Optional Culture Trip
In response to parental demand we offer an optional extra of an overseas trip on our Transition Year programme. As the holistic education of our students is of the highest priority to Cross and Passion College, trips with a clear educational value are selected for our students. This trip is in addition to the standard programme and as such incurs an additional cost to the standard expenses. The trip takes place during school holidays.
Submission of a deposit is considered to be an expression of interest in availing of the trip. In order for a student to be invited on the overseas trip the following criteria must be met.
Criteria for eligibility to travel
1.Behaviour past and present (First to Fourth Year) will be considered. Students must behave according to school rules.
2.Transition Year Expenses must be paid in full.
3.Parents and students must sign a contract regarding behaviour during school and during the trip.
4.Parents must sign a consent form to have rooms and bags of students searched at any time by any member of Cross and Passion Staff accompanying the students on this
trip.
5.Parents must be in a position to make credit/ debit card details available to the tour leader should their student/ child need to be sent home with an accompanying teacher during the trip.
6. Parents must sign a contract acknowledging the position of the accompanying teachers 'in loco parentis' and agree to teacher decisions regarding the health and safety of their student/ child and other students.
All Transition Year Expenses must be paid in full by the deposit due date. Those who have not paid expenses in full or apply for full or partial expenses support may not avail of an optional extra. If a student submits a deposit for the trip without having
all expenses paid in full and are therefore not invited to travel the deposit
money will be transferred to offset outstanding expenses.
Past and present behaviour must be appropriate to that expected by school rules. Student records regarding behaviour from first to fourth year will be considered.
Upon acceptance of a non-refundable deposit, students are expected to continue to behave in a manner appropriate to school rules. If a student does not maintain these standards they will not be allowed travel, further monies will not be accepted and their deposit and any payments made to the travel company will be lost.
Student behaviour must be of the highest standard while on the trip thus ensuring the health and safety of all those travelling. Should a student fail to maintain appropriate behaviour they will be sent home with an accompanying teacher at full cost to their parents.
The cost of the trip does not include
1. Return coach transfer from Kilcullen to Dublin Airport (cost will be available closer to travel date)
2. School administration fee of 5 euros which must be paid at the time of deposit submission. All information regarding the trip, receipts etc. will be posted to parents/ guardians
3. School PE Hoodie to be worn by each student while travelling
3.Gratuity to bus driver
Students will need very little spending money. We recommend a maximum of 100-150 euro. If the trip is oversubscribed a lottery system will be used to select invited students from those deemed eligible.
While travel insurance is included in the cost of the trip students must aquire a European Health Insurance Card themselves. Please log on to www.ehic.ie to apply.
Remember - there IS NO charge for the EHIC card, it is a free public service. Anyone asking for money IS NOT connected with the HSE.
A school mobile telephone will be with the teachers at all times so that students may be contacted in case of emergency by parents. This telephone number will be distributed to parents and students at the final information meeting prior to travel.
