On 12th October our TY year group attended the Just One Life Seminar in the Odeon Cinema organised by Newbridge Rotary Club. A member of the Rotary Club introduced the talks by members of the Fire Service, Garda and Naas Hospital.
John from the Fire Service, talked about his experience with car crashes and the tools he uses on a daily basis. The community Garda showed us statistics relating to car crashes and spoke about the need to adhere to the rules of the road. The A & E Consultant spoke about the many horrific situations he has had to deal with. He used a dummy named 'Jimmy' to demonstrate the impact of a car crash on our bodies. Throughout the talk we were shown quite graphic videos and images of vehicle collisions. As a group we believe that it was necessary to have that level of graphic content in order for us to be aware of the dangers posed by misuse of vehicles. As one of our students said 'It was very eye opening', an opinion shared by us all. Overall the experience was very beneficial for everyone as it made us more cautious. we are coming to the age where we will have our own vehicle and now we have the knowledge to be safer and drive responsibly. by Jayden Adams, Rachel Fitzgerald, Aaron O'Connor, Cian Fitzpatrick Comments are closed.
