Students enjoyed a fantastic trip to Glendalough where they learned about the areas history and ties to St. Kevin. Particular thanks to Mr Paul Tyrrell, our former principal who took the time to guide our students on this interesting and enjoyable trip.
Students recently attended the Well Being Zeminar in the RDS, Dublin. There were many fantastic speakers and workshops that inspired us to discuss many important questions regarding mental heath and self care.
Our sincere thanks to Hazel Gaynor for taking the time to visit us to talk about her life as an author and her latest book The Girl from the Savoy. We had lots of questions for Hazel. It was a very interesting visit and we learned a lot!
We recently had the privilege of Lorna Weightman, a native of Kicullen, and a past pupil of CPC, revisiting the school, writes Maryclare McMahon. Lorna is well known for her blog called Styleisle.ie. She also appears regularly on the TV programme Xpose talking about the latest fashion trends. Lorna talked to the Transition year students about her time in CPC, her academic accomplishments and her struggles. It is not every day that a person so busy and successful will take timeout to share her story. She talked about her anxiety and how she got help and totally changed her career for her wellbeing and health. In this age of technology overload and all the usual stresses of school life, it was refreshing and heart warming to hear honesty and true sincerity. A big thank you to Lorna and we look forward to hearing about her time in Africa where she is presently working as an Ambassador for Oxfam. She is working with African women in Tanzania who are innovators and working on making huge changes in their lives and the lives or others. Thanks to Brian Byrne for including this article on the Kilcullen Diary |
