4B recently enjoyed a trip to Kairos Communication Centre in Maynooth, as part of our Video Technology module. There we used high-tech television production equipment to produce our own TV show, a short chat show which we dubbed, "The Noodle and Rice Show". "The Noodle and Rice Show", co-hosted by Conor Kelly (Noodle) and Liam Horan (Rice), featured an array of distinctive guests, all created by 4B in the weeks leading to the trip to Kairos. We made sure that the characters were as wacky and as original as could be, and the finished product ended up being an impressive ten-minute show which we were all looking forward to seeing on DVD. As well as starring in the show, we also produced the show by ourselves, under the guidance of Video Technology teacher Mr Dowd and staff at Kairos studies. We had many different roles and were surprised with the amount of work there was behind the scenes in producing a television show. I, for example, was the vision mixer for the show. I was responsible for cuing up the graphics and switching between the different cameras using a switchboard in the production room. It certainly was a different experience. Thank you to Mr Dowd and all at Kairos Communications Centre for giving us the opportunity to produce our own TV show. Other TY classes in the year will also have the opportunity to go to Kairos, so we look forward to seeing how they get on. How many other TY groups get to produce their own television shows?
